Veteran Canadian journalist Tom Clark joined the Global News team in September 2011. He is the network’s chief political correspondent, and host of Global’s The West Block, Canada’s most-watched weekly political affairs program. Tom is also a frequent contributor to Global National.
“I’m going to use my 40 years of experience covering politics to make it accessible, interesting and interactive,” he said upon joining Global.
Tom has a lengthy career reporting on politics and current affairs. He covered his first federal election campaign in 1974, and most of the ones that followed. He has also interviewed nearly every Canadian prime minister since Pierre Trudeau.
Prior to joining Global, he was the host of Power Play on CTV NewsNet.
The seasoned journalist has also covered some of the biggest international stories in recent history, reporting from five war zones including southern Iraq, the Persian Gulf and Bosnia. He was also the only Canadian reporter in Belgrade during the Yugoslav war.
