Saskatoon police have stepped up traffic enforcement in the city with Operation Streetsweep and their efforts are paying off.

In the first two days of the blitz, traffic unit members have handed out more than 350 traffic tickets with 182 tickets issued for speeding or school zone speeding and 69 for not wearing a seat belt.

Officers have also ticketed drivers for using a cell phone, failing to yield to pedestrians and not having a valid driver’s license or an unregistered vehicle.

Saskatchewan Highway Transport Patrol officers and CN Police are helping Saskatoon Police Service with the blitz, which is mainly focusing on moving violations, seat belt and hand-held device use.

Operation Streetsweep continues for the rest of the week.
