UPDATE: Rutland house fire cause not suspicious

UPDATE: Police have concluded a barbeque was the cause of the fire on Bach Road August 14th. They have concluded their investigation into the house fire and dismissed it being suspicious.

UPDATE:   RCMP have secured the scene of the Bach Road house fire.  Police consider the fire suspicious.

UPDATE:  While Kelowna fire investigators work to pinpoint the exact cause of Thursday night’s fire in the 200 block of Bach Road,  the Fire Department is reminding everyone to dispose of smoking materials properly.  A covered deck was destroyed and the inside of the house sustained extensive heat and smoke damage.  There were no injuries.

It started shortly after 10 p.m. in a house on Bach Road, with heavy fire coming from the back of the home.

A family of four were inside the home but all have escaped safely. The family dog was also inside, but was rescued by firefighters.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but crews have begun their investigation.
