EDMONTON – A 67-year-old Edmonton man is dead after a three-vehicle collision west of Edmonton Friday.

RCMP say the collision happened around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 16, west of Highway 44.

Cst. Jason Curtis says the 67-year-old man was heading east on Highway 16 when his vehicle crossed the median and was struck by two vehicles heading west on the highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other drivers involved in the collision were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Curtis says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

The westbound lanes of Highway 16 were shut down to traffic between Highway 60 and Calahoo Road for about four hours Friday night.
