Toronto man caught pretending to be teacher at five TDSB schools

TORONTO – The Toronto District School Board is trying to figure out how a man pretending to be a teacher managed to work at five public schools for nearly two months.

A spokesman says it has never happened before and the board is reviewing its procedures to make sure it never happens again.

Toronto police say the man worked as a special needs assistant and education assistant at the schools between April 1st and June 5th.

The schools the accused taught at are Inglewood Heights Junior PS, H. A. Halbert Junior PS, Ionview PS, Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute and Centennial Road Junior PS.

The man was charged with personation to gain advantage.

He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 9.
