WINNIPEG – A Manitoba man has been arrested on charges of Internet luring involving a teenage boy from the Cochrane area in southern Alberta.
A 53-year-old man posed as a 13-year-old girl online and coerced the teenage boy into providing sexual videos, Winnipeg police allege.
Police searched a home, seized electronic equipment and contacted authorities in Alberta, Det. Sgt. Natalie Aitken said.
The accused has been released on a promise to appear in court and faces charges of possessing child pornography and luring a minor, she said.
The Winnipeg man and the alleged victim never met in person, she said.
The case is a reminder that Internet luring can happen anywhere, and that parents need to be mindful of what their children are doing online, Aitken said.
