A Saskatoon construction company has been fined after the owner pled guilty to 12 charges under the Labour Standards Act.

Marinel Manzuc, president of Sunbird Enterprises, made the guilty plea on August 8th. Six other charges have been stayed.

The company was fined a total of fifty-four hundred dollars for failing to pay wages, failure to keep and deliver payroll records and issuing an NSF cheque.

The Labour Standards Division is taking civil measures to recover the wages owed to employees, most of whom are temporary foreign employees working in residential construction.

There are still 14 outstanding wage complaints against Sunbird Enterprises along with two pending complaints.
