WINNIPEG – The sentencing of a Winnipeg man who kidnapped his two kids and hid them in Mexico has been delayed again.

Kevin Maryk pleaded guilty last month to kidnapping his children in 2008, keeping them in a heavily guarded home in Mexico for four years.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A lengthy sentencing hearing was held last month and the judge was prepared to hand down a sentence.

But that was delayed when the Crown requested hearing for more witness testimony.

The case has been put over until Friday when it’s expected they’ll set a date for the hearing to resume.

The Crown wants a five-year sentence, while the defence wants his immediate release based on credit for time served in Canada and Mexico.
