TORONTO – A Toronto man is facing 10 charges after police say a 19-year-old woman was forced into prostitution.
It’s alleged that the woman was threatened, physically assaulted and intimidated in order to coerce her into the sex trade.
Police say she was forced to give the man more than $100,000 and that her identification, cellphone, computer and house keys were also taken.
A man was arrested Wednesday and police say the woman’s property was found, along with a large sum of money.
Renardo Cole, 28, faces charges including trafficking in persons, procuring a person to become a prostitute, living on avails of prostitution, uttering a death threat and assault.
Police say they believe there may be more victims.
