Talks started up again informally on Wednesday, with the discussions intended to sketch out a way forward.

Earlier on Wednesday, the BCTF said that picket lines would stay up during summer school if the government didn’t deliver an improved deal.

On Tuesday the province applied to the Labour Relations Board, asking it to force striking teachers to teach remedial summer school courses for high school students.

Negotiations reached an impasse last week, with the BCTF requesting a mediator to help resolve the dispute.

Serious negotiations took place over the course of two days before the full strike began on June 16, but no deal was reached.
