HALIFAX – Lawyers for disabled RCMP and military veterans will be in court Friday to present settlements for disability clawbacks and cost of living provisions.

The two class-action cases will be in Federal Court in Halifax, where the deals between the members and the federal government will be presented for approval.

Dan Wallace, the lawyer for both groups, says the case involving 1,000 RCMP vets is worth about $70 million and includes the value of future benefits to the class.

The case involves officers who have had their long-term disability payments reduced by the amount they received every month in disability pension payments from Veterans Affairs.

Wallace also says he has reached an agreement with federal lawyers on cost of living provisions for military vets who were awarded a $887.8-million settlement last year.
