Edmonton police search for Father’s Day attackers

EDMONTON – Police are looking for a group of people who allegedly seriously assaulted a man on Father’s Day.

A 55-year-old man was allegedly attacked shortly before midnight by three or four other men.

Police say the group had a weapon during the assault.

The attack happened on Mill Woods Road between Knottwood Road north and 23 Avenue.

The victim suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

Police say the 55-year-old man and the suspects do not know each other.

The alleged attackers were last seen running north on Mill Woods Road towards 23 Avenue.

They’re described as Aboriginal, and between 18 and 20 years old. One of the men was wearing a black hoodie and another was wearing a light-coloured jacket. At least one of the suspects had long hair.

Anyone with information about the attack or the suspects is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
