This time, the two dim-witted friends set out to find one of their long-lost children in hopes of getting a new kidney.
The third film in the franchise — 2003’s Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was a prequel starring Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen — also stars Kathleen Turner and Rob Riggle.
It was directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, who helmed the first movie.
Dumb and Dumber was a big hit in the mid-90s, opening at the top of the box office and going on to earn $247 million worldwide.
The prequel didn’t fare as well, making only $39 million.
Carrey, 52, joked last year that he will make one Dumb and Dumber movie every 20 years.
“When I’m 91, I will do a Dumb and Dumber sequel,” he told Ellen DeGeneres last September.
“It will be called Gum and Gummer.”
