WATCH: Hero bus driver saves barefoot toddler from middle of street

A Portland, Oregon bus driver is being hailed as a hero for his quick action when he spotted a barefoot toddler walking alone in the middle of a street.

Security cameras on-board the TriMet bus captured the scene last Friday as driver Bill Clark stopped the bus and quickly rescued 2-year-old James before he wandered onto a busy intersection.

“I met the little boy we exchanged a few words and then I took him and put him on the bus and completed my trip to Gresham,” Clark told KOIN 6 News.

After completing his run, Clark waited for Police and Department of Human Services to arrive.

While they waited the hero driver tried to calm the little boy down by offering him some hot chocolate.

“He goes, ‘Chocolate!,’ that’s when I knew he liked hot chocolate,” said Clark.

Authorities eventually reunited the boy with his father, who had reported his son missing. Turns out the father had fallen asleep after working a late shift
and James wandered off without his knowledge.
