N.L. cabinet minister Harry Harding won’t seek re-election in October

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Another cabinet minister in Newfoundland and Labrador is bowing out of provincial politics.

A spokesman for Harry Harding, the minister of government services and lands, has confirmed he will not be running in the October election.

The Conservative member for Bonavista North first gained a seat in the legislature in a byelection in 2002 and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007.

After 45 years in the workforce, Harding says he wants to spend more time with family.

Last week, the minister for the volunteer sector, Dave Denine, also announced he would not seek re-election this fall.
