TORONTO — Actor Channing Tatum says he is “probably” an alcoholic.
In an interview for the June issue of GQ, the 34-year-old admitted: “I probably drink too much.”
Tatum explained: “I’m probably a pretty high-functioning, I guess, you know, I would say, alcoholic, I guess.”
The star of the comedy sequel 22 Jump Street (out June 13) said he uses alcohol to escape.
“I equate it to creativity, and I definitely equate it to having a good time.”
Tatum said he has cut back on his alcohol consumption since he and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum welcomed daughter Everly last year.
He also revealed a drunken bet he made with co-star Jonah Hill prior to the release of 21 Jump Street in 2012. Hill promised to kiss the tip of Tatum’s penis — through his underwear — if the movie made $35 million.
It earned $36.3 million in its opening weekend.
“I haven’t made him do it yet,” Tatum told GQ. “Maybe on a drunk night when we’re all being crazy … I might call in the bet.
“Or I might make him double or nothing.”
