Charges laid in the death of Dylan McGillis

Police have laid charges against Cleophas (Cliff) Decoine-Zuniga, 23, in the death of Dylan Cole McGillis, 20, in 2006.

McGillis was leaving a Whyte Avenue area bar in the early morning hours of November 19, 2006 with a friend.

The two individuals were approached by a group of four people, and altercation occured.

According to investigators, the group quickly grew to over a dozen people.

McGillis was attempting to leave the scene, when he was stabbed.

He later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators said at the time McGillis was killed that his death was a random act of violence.

The investigation into the case has been ongoing for several years.

Police and McGillis’s family have made several pleas to the public in the case, and a $40,000 reward was issued for information leading to a conviction in the case.

Decoine-Zuniga was arrested on June 21, and charged with one count of manslaughter.

He is set to appear in court on June 24.

Police are still looking for other suspects in the case.

According to police, they have gathered the following description from witnesses about another person who may have been at the scene, the person is of Asian decent, approximately 5’2″ – 5’5″, slender with dark hair.
