EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating after a teenage girl was allegedly assaulted while walking in Riverbend Thursday afternoon.
Police say the assault happened in an alley in the area of 48 Avenue and 143 Street, around 4:20 p.m.
According to the EPS, the girl was walking down the alley when she was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.
“After a brief struggle, the suspect fled on foot. The girl sustained minor injuries, but obviously traumatized,” said Scott Pattison, a spokesperson with the EPS. “We’re hoping the public can help us find the suspect responsible.”
Police are now searching for a Caucasian man, who is about six-feet tall with a medium build. Officers say he was wearing a dark-coloured jacket with a single reflective stripe around the wrist at the time of the incident. He was also wearing brown denim pants, white gloves, and his head was covered by a hoodie.
