The slide happened in a run called Milky Way in Delirium Dive, which is considered an in bounds, free ride zone. Special restrictions are in place for users, including the requirement that they have an avalanche beacon and shovel, and ride with a partner.
Officials say other users were on Delirium Dive when the slide happened, but were not caught in it.
The avalanche at Sunshine Village comes just one day after three people were caught up in a slide in Kananaskis Country. All three survived.
