Vancouver-Strathcona is a provincial riding located in the Metro Vancouver, Vancouver region. This riding was represented by NDP MLA Joan Phillip, who first took office in 2023. Phillip collected 13,673 votes, winning 68.17 per cent of the vote in the 2024 B.C. provincial election.

In December 2025, Phillip was diagnosed with an illness and stepped away from her duties as MLA.

She passed away on Aug. 28, aged 74. The Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs asked for a donation to the BC Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Just two years after the previous election, B.C. residents have cast their vote in the 2026 provincial election.

BC NDP leader David Eby called a snap election in September, making the provincial election day one week after the municipal elections.

Voters will elect 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly to serve in the 44th B.C. Parliament.
