N.B. Liberals say Alward government must keep promise for Dalhousie power plant

<p>FREDERICTON – New Brunswick’s Opposition leader says the province’s Tory government will be breaking an election promise if the Dalhousie power plant is closed.</p> <p>Liberal Victor Boudreau says Premier David Alward promised employees at the plant during last year’s election campaign that he would keep the facility open until a new fuel source is found.</p> <p>Energy Minister Craig Leonard now says the government and NB Power are looking at all options for the facility.</p> <p>He says it is an excellent power plant with good equipment, but it’s not economically feasible to continue burning high-priced oil.</p> <p>Leonard says the utility will also look to partner with other provinces in an effort to maximize the use of the Dalhousie plant.</p>
