RCMP say woman dies after fire destroys home in western N.L. community

<p>BENOITS SIDING, N.L. – RCMP say a 55-year-old woman is dead after a house fire in western Newfoundland and Labrador.</p> <p>Police say fire units responded to the blaze around 2:40 a.m. today in the community of Benoits Siding.</p> <p>Upon arrival police learned that one occupant of the home had escaped but another person was still trapped inside.</p> <p>Police say the victim was not a resident of the province.</p> <p>The home’s owner was later taken to hospital.</p> <p>Police say investigators have been told that the use of candles may have contributed to the fire.</p>
