KELOWNA, B.C. – The City of Kelowna has concluded its investigation into the disappearance of atheist ads from city buses – but staff are no closer to knowing what happened to the controversial advertisements.

Regional programs manager Jerry Dombrowski says the results of the review are inconclusive.

The ads read: “There probably is no God, so stop worrying and enjoy your life.”

They were reported missing from city buses on April 29. The ads paid for by the Centre for Inquiry were supposed to run until Wednesday.

Dombrowski says the investigation found no evidence of unauthorized entry into the transit yard where the buses were sitting.

But he says the decals plastered on the bus are not difficult to remove, and staff aren’t even sure whether they were removed in the transit yard or off-site.
