Dying teen’s blog ‘Alice’s Bucket List’ becomes an Internet hit

A teenager’s online blog listing her wish list of things she wants to do before she dies has become an Internet hit.

“I’m 15 and I have terminal cancer. I’ve created a bucket list because there are so many things I still want to do in my life … some are possible, some will remain a dream,” writes Alice Pyne in an introduction on her blog. “My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do. You only have one life … live it!”

Pyne lives with her parents and sister in Ulverston, Cumbria-a non-metropolitan county in northwest England. Pyne has been fighting a four year battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and began documenting her online “˜bucket list’ just days ago. To date, Pyne’s blog has already received more than 118,900 profile views.

Pyne states she cannot believe the support and the worldwide attention her blog is receiving from people and media: “Oh dear and I thought that I was just doing a little blog for a few friends! Thank you so much for all your lovely messages to me,” writes Pyne in her June 8 blog post.

In order to promote her cause, Twitter users have been tweeting her list using the worldwide trending hashtags #AliceWishlist and #alicebucketlist. Media coverage around the world and United Kingdom includes feature stories by the Daily Mail and The Guardian, as well as an interview with Pyne’s parents by The Sun.

In a bid to help the wish list trend, Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado and athlete Robbie Savage are among the stars re-tweeting Pyne’s message and list to their followers.

“¢ To stay in the chocolate room at Alton Towers

A 2007 movie The Bucket List starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman outlines the journey of two terminally ill men who head off on a road trip with a wish list of things to do before they die or “˜kick the bucket.’
