The Grey Cup is here!  I was at the International Airport today to watch it arrive and it was a bigger deal than I anticipated.  Tones of media on hand and plenty of fans to get a glimpse of the "old trophy."  Getting an opportunity to see the excitement at the airport gets me pumped for not just Sunday but the entire week leading up to the game.  I don't want to sound cheesy but (this is the point when I sound cheesy) it's great to see the city come together to host such a wonderful event.  If you think about it, the CFL is the only truly "All-Canadian" professional league.  We should embrace it.

Here's a quick history lesson for all you fans out there: The Grey Cup was originated as a trophy from Earl Grey, Governor-General of Canada, to be awarded to the Rugby champion of Canada.  It's been a part of Canadian sports since 1909.  Since 1954, only CFL teams have played for the Grey Cup.  Raise your hand if you knew…that's what I thought.

I'll be at the coaches meeting early tomorrow morning.  I hope they have a decent spread.  Slavy gets grumpy without breakfast.
