Redford announces plans for a new school in north Lethbridge

Premier Alison Redford has announced plans for a new Kindergarten to Grade 6 school in the north side of the city.

The school will hold approximately 450 Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division students.

Redford says this announcement is part of her Building Alberta Plan “One of the cornerstones of our Building Alberta Plan is education and preparing our kids for their future. Last spring, I committed to building 50 schools and modernizing 70 others and that is exactly what we are doing. I’m excited that Lethbridge families are going to benefit from this investment.”

She says the additional school will help address enrolment pressures.

The Premier announced 10 new schools in Calgary on Monday.

Jeff Johnson, Minister of Education says this initiative will put students first. “Our commitment to build state-of-the-art schools in communities across Alberta is critical to achieving the goals of Inspiring Education. We are putting students first by making smart and strategic investments in their education. These new schools will help ensure that every student can reach their full potential.”

The new facility will include space for project-based, collaborative learning.
