Culinary championship to stay in Kelowna

KELOWNA — It’s a Kelowna event that attracted 640 people to its grand finale, crowning one chef as the best in the country.
 
But another winner, is the city itself.
 
The Canadian Culinary Championships has just wrapped up its fourth year in Kelowna and next year was supposed to be its last before it moved onto another location.

However, in a surprise announcement Saturday it was revealed that the Okanagan will continue to host the competition at the Delta Grand Resort for another five years.

“We really feel that this event is more than just the event itself,” said Delta Grand Resort Manager, Daniel Bibby.
 
“It is really about building our reputation it’s a great culinary destination, being able to have people talk about our community all across Canada leading up to the event and throughout the year.”
 
Bibby said half of the attendees are from out of town and more visitors come to Kelowna after hearing that it’s the host city of the culinary competition.
