Winnipeg Flood Watch 2011: List of Manitoba Highways, Road Closures

The following is a list of road closures and warnings from the Provincial government, organized from newest to oldest:

“¢ Highway34 is now closed 5km south of Highway 23. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 346 is now re-opened from Highway 2 to Ninga; Highway 349 is now re-opened from Highway 10 to Highway 250; and

“¢ Highway 347 is now re-opened from Highway 2 to Highway 22. All three highways are now under caution due to soft and muddy conditions. These closures were due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 345, from Highway 83 to Highway 254, is closed. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 6 in vicinity of Fairford Bridge is under a Caution. This Caution is due to a shoulder washout and traffic is reduced to one lane.

“¢ Highway 41, at Highway 256 (McAuley), Caution is in effect. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 6 in vicinity of Fairford Bridge is under a Caution. This Caution is for water on the shoulder.

“¢ Highway 41, at Highway 256 (McAuley), Caution has been removed. This caution was due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 256 from Highway 41 to Willen is under a Caution

“¢ This Caution is for water on the road.

“¢ Highway 364, 5 kilometers south of Highway 269 is under a Caution. This Caution is for water on the road.

“¢ Highway 364, 9 kilometers south of Highway 269 is now re-opened. This closure was due to water on the road.

“¢ I-29 in North Dakota, from Fargo to Hillsboro, is now re-opened. Please be advised that there are speed reductions and water on the shoulder in various locations. Please be advised that I-29 in North Dakota, between the Manvel and Grafton Interchanges, remains closed. There is a detour in effect.

“¢ Highway 34, 5 kilometers south of Highway 23 Caution in effect.

“¢ This Caution is for water on the road.

“¢ Highway 579, Closed for 1 kilometer west of Highway 16 has been re-opened. This Closure was due to road washout and water on the road.

“¢ The following Highways have had the Caution Notices removed: Highway 274 south from Highway 5 for 7 kilometers; and Highway 274 4 kilometers north of Gilbert Plains. These cautions were due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 346, Closed from Highway 23 to Ninga, Local traffic only. This Closure is due to water on the road. This closure has been updated to local traffic only.

“¢ Highway 34, 6 kilometers north of Highway 1w Caution has been removed. This Caution was for dike construction and water on the road.

“¢ Highway 364, 9 kilometers south of Highway 269 is closed

“¢ This closure is due to water on the road.

“¢ The following highway Caution Notice has been removed: Highway 571 at the Saskatchewan Border. This Caution was due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 5 from Glenboro to Highway 351has been closed due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 276, 37 kilometers North of Highway 481, Caution. This Caution is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 41, at Highway 256 (McAuley), Caution. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 478, westbound lanes are closed at the Saskatchewan border. This closure is due to the closure of highway 22 in Saskatchewan.

“¢ Highway 338, from Highway 305 to Highway 245, Re-opened. However, there is a Caution in place due to soft and muddy conditions.

“¢ Highway 240, for 2 kilometres south of highway 245, Closed. This closure is due to a washout.

“¢ Highway 240, for 12.7 kilometres north of highway 23, Closed-Local Traffic Only. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 245 at Highway 240, Re-opened. This caution was due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 224, for 20 kilometres north of Highway 17, caution. There is water over the road in various locations.

“¢ The caution on the following highway has been removed:

“¢ Highway 233, ten kilometres east of Highway 17. This caution was due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 442, 8 kilometres north of highway 3, Caution. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 270, from Highway 1W to Highway 25, Re-opened. This closure was due to water over the road.

“¢ Please be advised that traffic on I-29 in North Dakota, between the Manvel and Grafton Interchanges, will be detoured at 4 p.m. today due to water on the roadway, with the exception of trucks and emergency vehicles. The detour for north-bound traffic will be north on US Highway 81 to ND Highway 17 at Grafton, then east on ND 17 back to I-29. The detour for south-bound traffic will be west on Highway 17, then south on US Highway 81 at Grafton, to I-29 at Manvel.

“¢ The following Caution Notice has been removed: Highway 24 at the intersection of Highway 264.

“¢ Highway 6, one kilometer north of St. Laurent, caution has been removed. This caution was due to water on the road.

“¢ The caution on the following highways has been removed: Highway 83N, six kilometres north of Highway 1W for seven kilometers; and Highway 259, eight kilometres east of Virden. These cautions were due to water on the road

“¢ Highway 250 is closed, one kilometre north of Souris.This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 254 is closed from Highway 3 to Highway 251. This closure is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 2, 5 kilometres west of Highway 13, has been re-opened. This caution was due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 346, Closed from Highway 23 to Ninga. This closure is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 579 is closed for 1 kilometre west of Highway. This closure is due to road washout and water on the road. Detour in effect.

“¢ Highway 233, 11 kilometeres west of Highway 17 for 1.5 kilometeres northwest, there is a Caution in effect. This Caution is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 224, 8 kilometres north of Highway 17 Has now been re-opened. This closure is due to washout.

“¢ Highway 325, 6 kilometres west of Highway 17, The Caution has been lifted. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Bridge Closure on Highway 348, 10 Km north of Highway 2, due to bridge failure.

“¢ The following highways had Caution Notices removed. These cautions were due to water on the roads. Highway 274, 7.3km north of Gilbert Plains and Highway 274, 10km south of Highway 5.

“¢ Highway 59N has now been reopened1.25 kilometers North of Highway 11. This caution was due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 340 has been closed from Highway 1 to Highway 457. This closure is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 83N, 6 kilometers North of Highway 1W has a Caution for 7 kilometers. This caution is due to water on the road in various locations.

“¢ Highway 271 from Highway 489 to Highway 20 has been closed. Local Traffic only. This closure is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 6 at the town of Fairford has been re-opened. This caution is to allow for the completion of maintenance operations.

“¢ Highway 542 from Highway 1 to Highway 257 has been closed. This closure is due to water on the road.

“¢ The following highways have Caution Notices due to water on the roads: Highway 24 at the intersection of Highway 264, Highway 274, 10 km south of Highway 5.

“¢ Highway 415, 2 kilometers east of Highway 6, is now re-opened. This closure was due to a washout.

“¢ The following highways have Caution Notices due to water on the roads: Highway 355, for 3 kilometers west of Highway 270; Highway 355, at Minnedosa; and Highway 59, 1.25 kilometers north of Highway 11.

“¢ Highway 267 from Highway 10 to Highway 274 has been closed. This closure is due to a wash out.

“¢ Bridge Closure on Highway 348, 4 Km north of Highway 2, due to bridge failure.

“¢ Highway 250, 1 Km North of Souris has a Caution. This caution is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 270, from Highway 1W to Highway 25 is now Closed- Local Traffic Only. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ The following roads are Closed – Local Traffic Only: Highway 201, from Highway 242 to Highway 31; Highway 486, 8 kilometers east of Highway 83; Highway 488, 5 kilometers south of Highway 10; Highway 488, 4 kilometers east of Highway 486. These closures are due to water over the road.

“¢ The following highways have Caution Notices due to water over the roads in various places: Highway 453, from Highway 10 to Highway 340; Highway 347, from Highway 2 to Highway 22; Highway 274, 4 kilometers North of Gilbert Plains; Highway 274, 7.3 kilometers North of Gilbert Plains; and Highway 571 at the Saskatchewan Border.

“¢ Highway 5, from the U.S. border to Highway 3, caution. There is water on the shoulder.

“¢ Highway 342, from Highway 253 to Highway 442, is closed. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 440, for ten kilometres north of Highway 253, is closed. This closure is due to a washout and water over the road.

“¢ Highway 224, 8 kilometres north of Highway 17 is now closed. This closure is due to washout.

“¢ Highway 2, 5 kilometres west of Highway 13, Caution. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 349 from highway 10 to highway 250 is under caution. This caution is due to water over the road in various locations.

“¢ Highway 6 at the town of Fairford is under caution. Traffic is down to one lane. This caution is to allow for the completion of maintenance operations.

“¢ Highway 205 in the vicinity of Sarto caution. Traffic is down to one lane traffic. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 224 from seven kilometers north of Highway 17 for two kilometers. This caution is to facilitate the construction of aqua dams.

“¢ Highway 274 from Highway 5 for seven kilometers. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 256 is now re-opened, three kilometres north of the U.S. border. This closure was due to water over the road.

“¢ UPDATE: Highway 5, from Glenboro to Highway 351, is open to through traffic. Drivers are advised to travel with caution as there is dike construction on the road. Also, please note that no oversize and overweight permits will be issued for this location.

“¢ Highway 6, one kilometer north of St. Laurent, travel with caution. This caution is due to water on the road. It is down to one lane traffic. All motorists must be prepared to stop and flag-persons are in attendance.

“¢ Highway 224, ten kilometres north of Highway 17, caution. This caution is due to water on the road.

“¢ Highway 5, from Glenboro to Highway 351, is closed, local traffic only. This closure is due to dike construction on the road. Also, please note that no oversize and overweight permits will be issued for this location.

“¢ Highway 416, for 2.5 kilometres north of Highway 415, is closed. This is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 416, for 12 kilometres west of Highway 17, is closed, local traffic only. This is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 222, at Hnausa has been closed. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 347, six kilometres south of Highway 2, is now re-opened. It was closed, local traffic only, because of water on the road.

“¢ Highway 346, from Highway 2 to Highway 23, is closed, local traffic only. There is water over the road in various locations.

“¢ Highway 453, in the vicinity of Rounthwaite, is closed, local traffic only. This is due to a washout and water over the road.

“¢ Highway 362, 23 km north of Dauphin for 1km, caution. There is water over the road.

“¢ Highway 245, east of its junction with Highway 240 for 400 metres, drive with caution. There is water over the road.

“¢ Highway 240, from Highway 23 to Highway 245, closed. There is water over the road.

“¢ Highway 305 is closed, local traffic only, from Highway 13 west to Highway 240. There is water over the road.

“¢ Highway 588 has been closed from Highway 275 to Highway 279.

“¢ This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 201 – from Highway 242 for 14 kilometers east of highway 242 has been closed to local traffic only. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 512, from Highway 68 to Highway 419 has been closed to local traffic only. This closure is due to water over the highway in various locations.

“¢ The following highways, which had cautions due to water over the road, have now been removed: Highway 274, 3 kilometers south of Highway 5; and Highway 274, 5 kilometers north of Gilbert Plains. These cautions were due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway # 242 From Hwy # 16 to 2 km west of Westbourne is closed. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 274, 5 kilometers north of Gilbert Plains, Caution. This caution is due to water over the road.

“¢ The following highways have Caution Notices due to water over the roads: Highway 353, 3 kilometers east of Highway 10; and Highway 274, 3 kilometers south of Highway 5.

“¢ The following highways have Caution Notices due to water on the roads: Highway 34, 6 kilometers north of highway 1W; and Highway 259, 8 kilometers east of Virden.

“¢ Highway 308, 30 kilometres south of Highway 1E, caution. There is water over the road. This is located south of East Braintree, Manitoba.

“¢ Highway 265 is now closed, for 20 kilometres west of Langruth. This closure is due to water on road.

“¢ Highway 302 is now closed from highway 12 to highway 303. This is due to flooding and water over the road. As well, it is soft and muddy with surface breaks.

“¢ Highway 305 is now re-opened from Highway 3 to Highway 13. This closure was due to water on road.

“¢ Highway 238 (River Road) is closed – local traffic only – from PTH 9 and Stevens Ave in Lockport. This is due to dike construction along the road.

“¢ Provincial Road 481 is closed for 3 miles north of Highway 68. This is due to a 75 meter stretch of water over the road.

“¢ Please be advised that I-29 in North Dakota, from Fargo to Hillsboro, is now closed. There is a detour in effect. The detour for north-bound I-29 traffic is west on I-94 to ND Hwy 18, head north on ND Hwy 18 to ND Hwy 200A, head east on ND 200A to I-29. The detour for south-bound I-29 traffic is west on ND Hwy 200A to ND Hwy 18; head south on ND Hwy 18 to I-94 at Exit 331; head north on ND Hwy 18 to ND Hwy 200A, head east on ND 200A to I-29.

“¢ Highway 513 is now open from 52 km south east of Dauphin River and 17 km east of Gypsumville. This closure was due to water over the road.

“¢ Provincial Road 342 from highway 23 to highway 245 is closed. This is due to water over the road; there was a culvert back up.

“¢ The following Highways have changed to: Highway 256 – from Highway 251 to 3km North of U.S. Border, Closed, local traffic only, water over road; Highway 256 – 3 km north of U.S. Border to U.S. Border, Closed, impassable, water over road; and Highway 233 – 10 km East of Highway 17, there is one lane traffic due to water over the road.

“¢ Highway 256 has been closed from Highway 251 to the border, local traffic only. This closure is due to water over the road.

“¢ The following highways have changed: Highway 320 – 4.2 km north of Highway 4 for 2.8 km, Closed, local traffic only, soft and muddy; and Highway 320 – 7 km north of Highway 4, Closed, water over road.

“¢ The following highways have been re-opened: Highway 9A (Selkirk City Route) in the vicinity of Selkirk; and Highway 320 for 11 kilometers north of Highway 4. These closures were due to water over the road.
