EDMONTON – Lac La Biche RCMP are warning motorists to stay off of several northern Alberta highways Saturday evening.
Officers say a no travel advisory has been issued for Highways 881, 36, 55, 858 and 663 due to treacherous and extremely poor winter driving conditions.
Large sections of highway are completely covered in snow, and in some areas the lanes are not visible. RCMP say black ice is also causing major problems for drivers.
Officers say they are currently responding to several motor vehicle collisions in the area.
A tow ban has been issued for all five of the highways.
