UPDATE: One person dies in collision west of Edmonton

Edmonton – An 18 year old woman has died following a two vehicle collision west of Edmonton.

The crash happened around 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the intersection of Highway 16 and Highway 770, west of Stony Plain.

RCMP say a vehicle was turning south onto Highway 770 when it was T-boned by a vehicle heading east along Highway 16.

The 18-year-old victim was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit. She was taken to an Edmonton hospital by STARS Air Ambulance, where she died from her injuries.

Her name has not been released as family members are notified of her death.

The 19-year-old driver of the vehicle that was hit was taken to an Edmonton hospital with non life threatening injuries.

A passenger of the eastbound vehicle was also taken to an Edmonton hospital with non life threatening injuries. The driver was not injured.

RCMP say neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash and the highway was clear at the time of the collision.
