Sayward RCMP are hoping to save someone’s Christmas after a large bag full of children’s presents was found abandoned on a busy highway this weekend.

A road maintenance crew came across the mystery find on Highway 19 near Sayward on Sunday.

The crew turned the items over to the RCMP, who are now looking for the rightful owner.

Cst. Steven Thackeray with Sayward RCMP says no one has come forward to claim the bag yet.

He says they believe the bag might have fallen right off the back of someone’s vehicle.

Police are not disclosing what exactly was in it, but say a matching description of the items will see them quickly returned.

Thackeray says they are hoping the owner or anyone with information will give them a call to help them solve this mystery.

“Hopefully we can reunite the presents with the kids that they were intended for and get them under the right tree,” says Thackeray.
