Huron OPP Const. Craig Soldan said the crash occurred at roughly 6:45 a.m. Wednesday on Bluewater Highway at Sararas Road and police received a 911 call just minutes later.

“It appears, in the early stage of the investigation, as though it’s a head-on collision,” Soldan explained.

“The person that was driving the minivan has passed away and we believe their vehicle, for some unknown reason, was in the other lane of traffic.”

Soldan said the minivan was heading northbound and the investigation so far suggests it crossed over into the southbound lane and collided with the tractor trailer.

The minivan driver was pronounced dead at the scene and has now been identified as a 58-year-old from Bluewater. The transport truck driver was not injured.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing but Soldan confirmed that the roads are dry and it is a sunny and clear day in the region.
