WINNIPEG — RCMP are investigating what officers called a serious crash just before 7 p.m. Monday on a highway north of Winnipeg that left three people, including a child, injured.

Officers closed Highway 9 in both directions near Highway 410 or St. Andrews Road. Employees at a nearby business said they started hearing sirens at about 7 p.m. Monday.

“Drivers of both vehicles were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. A young child was transported to hospital in unstable condition,” RCMP said in a news release late Monday.

After the crash, two badly damaged vehicles lay crumpled together in the northbound lanes of Highway 9.

Highway 9 reopened at about 9 p.m.

East St. Paul RCMP and an RCMP traffic analyst continue to investigate.
