CALGARY- A 41-year-old man from Medicine Hat is facing numerous charges related to child pornography, after an investigation involving authorities in two countries.
Officials say the accused had been engaging in inappropriate e-mail communications with a 12-year-old girl who lives in St. Augustine, Florida. When her parents discovered the exchanges, they contacted the sheriff’s office, which requested help from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).

ALERT, RCMP and Medicine Hat police arrested the man on December 10.
Daniel Russell Rand has since been charged with two counts of child luring, possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
