Guelph police say a fake name was used to try to open a line of credit at a south-end bank branch.
Police said they were called to the financial institution around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Investigators said a woman tried to open a line of credit with a temporary bank card given to her at a branch in Mississauga on Monday.

Police said they were contacted after staff became suspicious about the documents.
Investigators said the woman was seen a short distance away and had the bank card on her along with various fake identity documents.
There was also a cheque reportedly made out for over $230,000 to the same name.
A 24-year-old from Guelph has been charged and was held for a bail hearing on Wednesday.
