Join Andrei Godoroja, Season 2 winner of the Great Canadian Baking Show, for Cooking for a Cause. Cooking for a Cause is an online fundraiser for Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Taking place on Zoom on Saturday, April 17th at 12pm PDT, Andrei will share his tips and techniques on how to make delicious chocolate salted caramel whoopie pies. Participants will be sent the recipe and ingredient list along with a Zoom link in advance. Participation is by donation with two packages: • Regular package — Cooking class: suggested $25 donation • VIP Package – Cooking class + an exclusive post-class Q and A with Andrei (max 20 people): Minimum $50 donation About Andrei Andrei started baking at a very early age, with very mixed results. Much later in life, after a degree in Engineering Physics and a career detour into classical singing, he returned to baking armed with science and passion. He decided to test his baking knowledge by applying to be on Season 2 of The Great Canadian Baking Show and surprised himself by being selected, and then by winning. Currently, when not working as a software engineer in a tech start-up of which he is a co-founder and director, he has been sharing his baking and knowledge by helping out charities and teaching pastry courses. About Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for women from all walks of life, who live and/or work in the Downtown Eastside. https://dewc.ca About Bridging Gender Divides Bridging Gender Divides was founded by five teens from across the country who were supposed to participate in the SHAD program this past summer. While Covid has prevented them from meeting in person and taking part in the life-changing experience of real world problem solving offered by SHAD, these teens are focused on making the world a better place for women and children by organizing local fundraising initiatives.
