The 111th Edmonton Kiwanis Music Festival Invites you to Hear the Stars of Tomorrow This year marks the 111th Annual Edmonton Kiwanis Music Festival – Canada’s first competitive music festival. Over 1,700 single and group entrants entered in over 1,000 classes will perform and compete from April 15 to May 5, 2019 at MacEwan University’s Alberta College Campus (10050 MacDonald Drive), McDougall United Church (10025 101 Street), and the Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre (8426 Gateway Boulevard). Sessions generally start at 9:00 AM, 1:30 PM, and 6:30 PM. Choirs, bands, singers, pianists, guitarists, harpists, speech/acting students, musical theatre performers, string players, woodwind players, and brass players will be showcasing, in a variety of classes, what they have learned this year. Some will be recommended to represent Edmonton at the Provincial Music Festival, and some will win Scholarships, but all will share their passion in their chosen discipline. All events during the Festival are FREE to the public. Programs are available for $5 on-site at Alberta College during the Festival. The High Level Bridge will be lit up in Blue & Gold (Kiwanis colours) on Monday, April 15, 2019 to mark the kick-off of the Festival. The Festival kicks off with a Gala on Sunday, April 14 at 3:00 PM at McDougall United Church (10025 101 Street) featuring performers of the various disciplines in the Festival. The Gala will be emceed by Heather Bedford-Clooney, Executive Director of the Edmonton Kiwanis Music Festival. There are several classes in which scholarships will be awarded including some very Special Scholarships.
