Dr. Jean Twenge, the internationally recognized psychologist and researcher on adolescence and technology, offers up-to-date research and tips that may make a difference in how we interact with our phones and each other. This free public lecture will help us understand the effects of our smartphones on our families, relationships, and behaviour. Parents and their teens will learn: •The truth about how many hours children are spending on screen time each day •What the consequences are from this lack of connection to other children, including loneliness and anxiety •How to set boundaries for screen time for kids •The fall-out of screen time on sleep patterns and the subsequent effect on learning •The importance of parents being positive role models with their own use of phones and electronic devices Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
