As part of the 2024 Sound of Dragon Festival, a concert From Chinese Winds & Percussion to Indonesian Gamelan is planned for Sunday, May 26 at 8:00 pm at The Annex, 823 Seymour Street, Vancouver. Featuring suona soloist Zhongxi Wu (Vancouver) and percussionist Hsuan Ning Huang (Edmonton), Chinese Winds & Percussion Music is a genre deeply rooted in traditional lifestyle and an important part of festivals and temple celebrations. Vancouver’s JUNO nominated Orchid Ensemble will collaborate with gamelan musicians Sutrisno Hartana and Purwanta Ipung from Yogyakarta, Indonesia for an inter-cultural twist of percussion music.
