Between June 5, 2026, and January 3, 2027, the Royal BC Museum proudly presents Ancient Egypt: Obsessed with Life, an immersive exhibition exploring ancient Egyptian rituals, beliefs and artistry. Visitors are invited to move through intimate, atmospheric spaces that recreate a journey through death, rebirth and the afterlife. See striking embellished coffins, powerful grave goods, jewelry, and everyday objects intended to accompany souls into eternity. Through evocative light, sound and scent displays, the exhibition evokes Egypt’s reverence for life and the hereafter. Whether you’re drawn by archaeology, spirituality or sheer wonder, Ancient Egypt: Obsessed with Life reveals the enduring humanity behind the mysteries of an ancient civilization.
Visitors are invited to move through 9,000 sq.-ft. of intimate, atmospheric spaces that recreate a journey through death, rebirth and the afterlife.
The exhibition’s narrative concentrates on the classical pharaonic period, Old Kingdom to New Kingdom, and includes objects from the Late and Greco-Roman periods, includes striking embellished coffins, powerful grave goods, jewelry and everyday objects.
Divided into four themes: Mummification, the underworld, the grave, and the afterlife. Each incorporates objects, staged environments, digital technology and soundscapes.
Through light, sound and scent displays, the exhibition evokes Egypt’s reverence for life and the hereafter.
