On-air Contributor

Dave is a born and raised Calgarian, living in the city for over 30 years. He loves Calgary and the people who also call it home.

Dave took a different path into broadcasting: after graduating from Central Memorial High School, he left for Fernie, B.C., to continue his hockey career with the Fernie Ghostriders in the KIJHL, winning back-to-back championships.

After three years in Fernie, he returned to school, enrolling in open studies in Edmonton at MacEwan University for the final year of his hockey career with the MacEwan Griffins.

After that, it was back home to Calgary where he worked full-time for two years at a rental company before being accepted into the broadcasting program at Mount Royal University in 2012.

After graduating from the program in 2014, Dave got his professional broadcasting start as a technical operator with QR Calgary. He spent two years working the weekend overnight shifts, and then took the opportunity to join the morning show with one of his broadcasting heroes, Gord Gillies.

Dave wrapped up his operator time with two of his best pals and mentors, Sue Deyell and Andrew Schultz, in 2020. Now, you can hear him as an on-air contributor and sports anchor on the morning show, plus co-host on Global News Radio’s This is Why podcast.

Dave keeps busy away from work with his wife Courtney and their golden retriever Rocket, and they can normally be found walking in the community and spending time with friends.

He continues to play hockey once a week and loves to golf. Ask him and he will gladly tell you the story about his hole-in-one from 2018.
