Daintre Christensen is the traffic anchor and co-host for Edmonton’s #1 morning newscast, the Morning News on Global Edmonton.
For the past 11 years she has guided Edmonton and area drivers through our busy morning commute.
As a Global ambassador she volunteers time in our community to support donation drives including the Give Me Shelter campaign and Santa’s Anonymous as well as emcee for events throughout the year including the Edmonton Fire Fighters Burn Treatment Society, Easter Seals Alberta, and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. She and Mike Sobel take part in the MS Bike from Leduc to Camrose year after year. “After day 1 my legs are like spaghetti, but it is worth it to cross the finish line. Everyone works so hard to help raise funds to End MS, it’s overwhelming to see the crowd gather on Saturday night in celebration.”
Her time away from the camera is spent with a special focus on animal groups. She has fostered several dogs and actively encourages animal adoption with several Alberta rescue groups. She volunteers her services at animal rescue fundraisers throughout the year.
She also is honoured when asked to share to her experiences as an Indigenous woman. Recent speaking engagements include the 2018 Women’s Symposium, and the 2017 Indigenous Women in Leadership Workshop for the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women.
WATCH: Daintre answers a few questions for Global Edmonton viewers, including: what’s something people do not know about you, what is one item you would bring on a deserted island, and something you are most passionate about?
