Chris Sobon

News Manager

When you call CHBC News with a story idea or a question, and you are put through to the newsroom, it’s Chris whom you’ll most likely be talking with. Chris Sobon has worked at CHBC since 1985. He worked different technical jobs until becoming a News Cameraman in 1988. For 12 years, he covered the news stories around the Okanagan Valley. In April 2000, Chris was named CHBC’s News Assignment Editor. He later became the Managing Editor, then was named News Manager in the fall of 2019. Every day, Chris meets with reporters and cameramen to discuss their assignments, and keeps track of breaking news in CHBC’s vast coverage area to ensure that all top stories are being covered.
