Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to a new report by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Wednesday, which projected the country will still be short 3.45 million homes by 2030 in order for housing to be affordable for most Canadians. “We’re there to respond to the challenge,” he said as he announced that London, Ont. was the first city in Canada to strike a deal with the federal government under its four billion Housing Accelerator Fund.
