Seven weeks after overthrowing the country’s government, Niger’s military junta has accused France of taking steps towards a potential military intervention. After implying France and Niger were in talks to agree on a “French withdrawal plan” at the beginning of the month, junta member Col.-Maj. Amadou Abdramane said, “France has continued to deploy its forces in several ECOWAS countries.”
