City of Kawartha Lakes considering so-called ‘strong mayor powers’

Last week, the Ford government expanded so-called ‘strong mayor powers’ to municipal leaders. The goal is to aid cities across Ontario in meeting provincial housing targets. However, critics argue the powers skirt the democratic process – giving mayors too much leeway in council chambers.
