The RCMP’s Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre assessed $530M worth of losses related to cybercrime in 2022, however, the department’s Director General, Chris Lynam National — also a member of the Cybercrime Coordination Centre (NC3) — says that could only be a portion of it as only 5-10 per cent of cybercrime in Canada is reported to authorities.
