U.S. President Joe Biden pledging federal assistance to Maui during a tour of the devastation left by fast-moving wildfires on the island on Aug. 8. The “country grieves with you, stands with you, and will do everything possible to help you recover, rebuild, and respect culture and traditions when the rebuilding takes place. As soon as I got the governor’s request I signed a major disaster declaration that mobilize the whole of government response – that means whatever you need you’re going to get,” Biden said.
