B.C. premier calls out Meta for Canadian media blackout during state of emergency

Speaking during a press conference on Mon., Aug. 21, B.C. Premier David Eby called out the technology company Meta for its ban on Canadian media organizations on its platform during the B.C. wildfire emergency. As a result of the federal government’s Bill C-18 legislation, Canadians can not currently view content on Facebook or Instagram from trusted media organizations during the disaster.
