“People don’t realize how hard it is to live off the grid,” says Trevala Jara, whose two step sisters and nephew were found dead at a campsite in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado earlier this month. Police said their bodies were found in a “fairly mummified” state. Christine Vance, 41; Rebecca Vance, 42; and Rebecca’s son, who was not named because he was a minor, all used to reside in Colorado Springs before packing up to live “off the grid,” family members told the coroner.
